     Climb aboard to take part in an exciting trip around the world.  These lessons are designed to enrich and extend our classroom unit that takes a group of 4th and 5th graders around the globe.  Reading requirement are first to third grade level, with an emphasis on practical life skills and an increase in general knowledge about the planet we live on.  Lessons will be presented for all subjects and can be adjusted to differing individual skill levels.  All aboard!

Internet Lessons

Lesson #1:  First Stop is London, United Kingdom.  Your plane arrives and you have one day to visit the top ten sites of London. Click here to get started.

tutan.gif (8470 bytes)    Lesson # 2:  Next, we board a plane to Africa.  We will be visiting the very interesting country of Egypt.  See what you can learn, and be ready to give a report to the class.   

 Lesson #3: Use these tutorials on Africa to learn about its countries, capitals, landscape, animals and more. Then play games to see how much you've learned.

 Lesson #4: Next, let's explore some of the exciting wildlife in Africa by playing the "African Savannah Animals" game to practice animal classifications.                           

Lesson #5:  For another fun lesson, access the games link on this Japanese Site, then click on Japan puzzle to test your skills putting together the jig saw puzzle pieces to form a map of Japan.

Lesson #6:  Follow this link to "Australia".  Study this site to learn about Australia, then take the quiz!

 Lesson #7: Next, ask your teacher for your research project papers, then follow this link to find more fun and amazing facts at "Australia for Kids."

Lesson #8:  Take a trip to "Antarctica". Start with a quiz to test your knowledge. Explore the links while filling in the Venn Diagram in your "Polar Biome" booklet. At the end of this unit take the quiz again to see how much you have learned!

Lesson #9:  This is a great place to get some help on writing a report on "Antarctic Animals". Choose one of the animals listed. Draw and color a picture of it. Then complete the report form in your booklet. When you are done, you can print out some information found at this site to help you prepare for your oral report.

Lesson #10:  Take the "Arctic Trivia Challenge" to test your knowledge about the arctic region.

Lesson #11: Check this site out to read about "Artic Animals". Choose your favorite and prepare an oral report to give to your class. A print out of facts and a picture is available for each animal. Use 3 x 5 cards to record key words to help you during your report.

Lesson 13:  Click on "Illinois" to discover interesting facts about your state.  Use this site to fill in the information needed to complete your Illinois packet.

Lesson 14:  Click on any one of the U.S. flags below to check out three different sites with fabulous information on our great United States of America!

Lesson 15: Click on great USA Map Puzzle Games to help you learn USA capitals, states, and geography at various levels of difficulty. It's fun to click and drag each item to its correct location on a USA map!

Use these lessons for any country you are studying!

Lesson A: All countries need to practice recycling. To have a ton of fun on a recycling scavenger hunt, just click on Recycle City and follow the directions on your scavenger hunt paper.

Lesson B: Many countries are represented in the Olympics. Visit this site to take an Olympics Quiz using the picture dictionary "Little Explorers". Lots of information on Greece too!
